Recommending Our Services

We highly recommend April to any dog owner: be they novice or very experienced – you will not be disappointed.

We rescued a 3 year old German Shepherd who, we were told, had begun cornering people at his previous owners’ business. He was about to be put to sleep as they could not handle him anymore. We brought him home and discovered he had severe dog aggression issues as well. We contacted April at Howl A Day Inn Notre Dame on the recommendation of the trainer we had been using for over 15 years. That in itself speaks volumes.

April had him for a 10 day “boot camp” and we could not believe the difference in him. She trained us as well as him. Fast forward two years and he is a happy, healthy dog who is now manageable and lives with another dog and a cat.

Her training and support is invaluable, and does not finish at the end of a course. She maintains frequent contact, checking in on him and is always available for advice. We are convinced she saved Ruger’s life – and our sanity.

We also had a 16 year old GSD/Lab mix who was the love of my life. When the dogs go to Howl A Day Inn Notre Dame for boarding, my old girl received the best care possible. She was a house guest with April and her family.

Currently, our 5 month old German Shepherd pup goes for daycare and overnight boarding a couple nights a week. He comes home having learned something new every week.

We easily leave our treasured dogs with April when we travel knowing full well they are being cared for as if they were her own.

She is not only a caring individual, but is so very knowledgeable on a variety of dog related subjects – various training methods, health, nutrition, behaviour, problem solving.

We highly recommend April to any dog owner: be they novice or very experienced – you will not be disappointed.

I will always bring my dogs back when the need arises and leave with peace of mind <3

April came to my rescue when we sold our house...bombarded with boxes and the addition of 2 pups to our already lively crew, we needed to find a solution where everyone would be happy during this transition. Having our 4 furkids + the 2 new pups in a boarding kennel was a stressful thought but I trusted they would be well taken care of and be back home soon enough.

April surpassed my expectations !! She posted pictures of the dogs having fun and being spoiled on her lap on several occasions. On my way to the new house I had dropped in unannounced to drop off treats for the dogs and pay them a visit... They were in April's house having a BLAST and getting generous dose of loving. Being house dogs and not familiar with a kennel environment, that meant a lot to me !! With 6 their routine can get quite hectic to keep track of but April made sure to follow and keep their routines just like they would at home.

During all of my unexpected visits the kennel runs, outdoor runs and house was always clean and well kept. All the dogs there were very happy and well taken care of !! I will always bring my dogs back when the need arises and leave with peace of mind <3

I would highly recommend April whether it is daycare, boarding or training.

I first met April Saulnier at a local dog show sometime in 2011. She was handling dogs for friends of mine and I was very impressed with her ring manner but most importantly, how the dogs responded to her. I got to know April a little better throughout the year and was really impressed with her accomplishments.

I have a very active male German Shepherd Dog named Cerin. He had become such a handful even though we had gone to puppy classes. I was at a loss as to what to do with him and became frustrated. I contacted April to see if she would be willing to do some training with him. She agreed and we drove up to New Brunswick, from Nova Scotia with 11 month old Cerin. The deal was to leave him there for a month for basic obedience training and show training. I had taught Cerin how to gait for the show ring, but had not been able to get him stacked or show his bite.

After about 3 weeks, April had him stacked; she sent me a video as I didn't believe her. There to my amazement was my boy, behaving, listening and happy.

Cerin was left with April for a total of 6 weeks and I cannot believe what she accomplished with him in that time. The bond they formed was just so heartwarming that I was almost sorry to take him home. She treated and cared for Cerin as if he were her personal dog. They were entered as a team into the Moncton Kennel Club dog show and did so well. Cerin’s show career will not continue but because of April's encouragement, his obedience career will start.

I will gladly send Cerin back to April anytime knowing that he is getting the care and attention of personal training.

I would highly recommend April whether it is daycare, boarding or training.

If you are looking for a trainer/handler or place to leave your dog while at work or on vacation, do not look any further.

My name is Amanda I. L. Wilson. I am a Supply Teacher with the Anglophone East School District. I am also an avid dog fancier. I currently have an l8-month-old male Rhodesian Ridgeback, named Ronon. I first met April Saulnier, when I began taking Ronon to handling classes. I watched her ease and grace when she was working with some German Shepherds and Labs. As I continued to observe her interacting with the other dogs and guiding them through their exercises, I knew that she was the person I wanted to handle Ronon. Ronon is a difficult to motivate dog and often reserved around strangers. However, April has a natural way with dogs and they all respond to her in kind. She was able to make Ronon feel at ease and enjoy learning. She handled Ronon in multiple shows with expertise.

Furthermore, April not only teaches the dog but she also focuses on teaching the owner how to better interact with their dog. Since I have been working with April, both Ronon and I have learned a lot and our relationship has grown as we have trained together under April’s guidance.

I am confident in April’s proven abilities to educate both dogs and owners alike. April Saulnier has a natural gift in working with dogs and there is no one else that I would trust more with my Ronon. If you are looking for a trainer/handler or place to leave your dog while at work or on vacation, do not look any further.

Sincerely,

- Amanda I. L. Wilson

Dear April (or as we like to call you, "dog whisperer"),

I, along with all of my dog friends - and we are many, as you know - were so pleased when you announced you were going to follow your dream and venture into your own business with dogs. We all know from firsthand experience that this is where you belong. Why pretend you may fit into the corporate world, or work somewhere where you aren't free to exercise your talents, when you can do it on your own and make the dog world a better place?

I have been grateful to you from our first experiences with Cindy. You worked so hard with Cindy, and then you never gave up on me. Cindy was a unique dog that required special care and skill and you always knew what to do. You made me feel better about my ability (or rather inability) to make her a more peaceful dog. I will always be grateful to you for that, and I know Cindy will be as well.

When it came time to select another dog for our family, I asked you to help me pick just the right pup and you reassured me that Beau's temperament would be a good fit. You were right! You did his first grooming at about 11 weeks of age, just to ensure he got used to scissors and clippers and handling, and that is why today he is so relaxed when you or I groom him! The Obedience classes you teach are far superior than any others we have attended, and have helped Beau become the dog he is today. We have fun at your classes! They are interesting, challenging and teach us useful things besides sit, down, heel, stay.

And finally I want to thank you for taking such good care of my best friend when I am away on vacation. When I tell him he is going to April's, his ears perk up, his tail raises a bit higher, and his eyes become brighter. It is clear that he loves you and respects you immensely. You have such a calm control over the dogs and I do not worry one bit when I am away, knowing you are caring for Beau as you do your own. (OK so I text you a bit obsessively, but that's the kind of pet owner I am!) Now with Sunny on board as a new member of our family, I look forward to having them take up residence in the Ritz Hotel Room when we are away!

Best of luck in this new chapter of your life. May you prosper well and may this chapter be but one in a trilogy of success stories.

I would not hesitate to highly recommend April to anyone looking for a comfortable, safe and loving home away from home, or if you are looking for someone to fill your dog's training needs.

I would like to take this time to say a few comments about my experience, and those of my dogs, with regards to April Saulnier.

I am Colleen Aucoin, owner/operator of Aldercrest German Shepherds Reg'd in Nova Scotia. I have on many occasions entrusted my German Shepherds in April's care; whether it be for training, showing, socialization or all of the above.

She has always been professional, loving, and very attentive to the needs of my dogs, whether it be with their training issues, diet and exercise needs, and especially when extra medical attention was required.

If someone was feeling a little bit down, lonely or scared, April always pays special attention to be sure he or she feels secure, loved and happy.

I am always kept informed on my dog's accomplishments as well as any concerns. Should a dog become ill or not appear to feel right, April will not hesitate to contact me and take the appropriate measures, seek medical attention if necessary and begin any treatment immediately. I always have full confidence and trust knowing April will do right by my animals. She truly loves each and every one as if they were her own.

My dogs have always been returned to me relaxed, healthy and happy and in better condition than when I sent them to her. They all love April and can't wait to be with her. I have even had my dogs jump back in April's vehicle hoping to go back home with her instead of staying with me. She develops a special bond with all her boarders.

I would not hesitate to highly recommend April to anyone looking for a comfortable, safe and loving home away from home, or if you are looking for someone to fill your dog's training needs. You are welcome to contact me for more details on April's accomplishments with my dogs anytime. She has achieved Canadian Championships, trained and piloted them through Rally titles, Canine Good neighbor certification, Temperament test certification, St John Ambulance Therapy Dog certification, just to name a few; keeping, diet, exercise, proper nutrition and mental health and happiness top priority.

Thanks April !!!

Sincerely,

- Colleen & Peter Aucoin

April did a fantastic job with the puppy and went above and beyond what was asked of her.

I confirm that April Saulnier has volunteered with the Burke Police Dog Academy from 2009 to present.

While at the Academy, April has performed functions such as grooming, obedience, socialization and has participated in our foster program. For this program, April cared for one of our puppies for a duration of 8 months. During this time her responsibilities were to socialize the puppy to all environments, teach it basic manners and provide care for its health and well being. April did a fantastic job with the puppy and went above and beyond what was asked of her. She continues to volunteer with the Academy on a regular basis and she is reliable, punctual, well organized and eager to learn.

If possible, I would happily employ April Saulnier as I already consider her to be a valuable member of the Academy. She is pleasant to work with and would be a great addition to your team.

Yours Sincerely,

- Patrick McKenna, Manager

Her genuine compassion of animals made her ability in the grooming industry a natural.

April attended my Academy (Elite Dog Grooming and Academy) in 2009. It's a three month course. Her attendance was 98%. She graduated top in her class and to date she holds the top marks in the Academy.

Her genuine compassion of animals made her ability in the grooming industry a natural. Once shown how to do each step she took initiative and completed her task each and every time on her own. April is very pleasant, honest, great personality, extraordinary and a hard worker.

Sincerely,

- Mrs. Charlotte Cormier, Owner, Operator, Instructor

Miss Saulnier is a very hardworking and diligent young lady.

I have had the pleasure of working with April Saulnier at the Moncton SPCA since December 2007. Miss Saulnier is a part time animal care attendant/part time receptionist with the Moncton SPCA and has performed a vast array of duties during her time with us.

Miss Saulnier is a very hardworking and diligent young lady. She performs her assigned tasks well and in a timely manner.

I have always found Miss Saulnier to be a courteous, polite and caring individual. Miss Saulnier is always willing to give that little extra when myself or a co-worker needs a hand. If, on any given day, there happens to be extra above and beyond duties that need to be performed, I know that I will be able to count on her cooperation.

While I would be very sad to see Miss Saulnier leave the Moncton SPCA, I would wish her well in any career path she may choose.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

- Nanette Pearl, Director of Operations
Moncton SPCA
